Today is 125 birth anniversary of first Prime Minster of India Jawahar Lal Nehru.Nehru`s tenure began with a conflict with Pakistan over the disputed Kashmir region. A United Nations-mediated ceasefire was negotiated but the region remains volatile to this day. Towards the end of his time in office there was a war with China over a disputed border in which Indian troops were badly beaten. Nehru died on May 27, 1964.
